WEATHER
The sky is clearing earlier than we had been told, but it is not a big blue sky day
with freezing fog mentioned.
Any wind will be more of a breeze.
Later it should snow down to 1200 metres,
adding 5 or more centimetres on our pistes.
At 9.50 the temperature is
-7° in the Village.
-2° on Solaise.
-6° on Bellevarde.
-10° on Pisaillas.
The maximum temperature at 2000 metres will be -2°
ROADS
No problems are expected on our roads today
but it is a Friday,
so this evening the roads up and down the mountain may be busy, though not as busy as tomorrow.
Please check that your car is properly equipped for winter conditions.
SKI REPORT
For the most up-to-date information please click here.
Here are the highlights of the ski report.
Great day to ski - the few exceptions to “beautifully groomed and open”.
The 3000 draglift on Solaise and
The broken Signal draglift in le Fornet
are the only
lifts due to be closed all day
MOST IMPORTANT
The Santons and L may both open
BUT they are gulleys with slabs above them.
IF they are closed later, it is not just to spoil your fun.
Our ski patrollers are worried that an avalanche could fill them.
Don’t be there if it does.
Never ski on a closed piste
ON SOLAISE
Only the 3000 is closed.
The Marmottons and the S are never groomed.
The Cugnai was also not groomed.
IN LE FORNET
Everything will open except
Tunnel and Signal which will be closed all day.
The Foret is never groomed.
ON PISAILLAS
Just the Cascade will be closed.
Please remember
Skiing in control is a fine thing !
If you were a beginner on Monday
You are very unlikely to be ready to safely ski our black pistes today,
even though it is Friday and you are going home tomorrow.
The Face is not easy peasy.
Our local hospitals are very good, but when you fall
It might not just be you that is injured.
You can just Fib to your Friends in Fulham.
The Face will still be here when you come back.
Whatever weird wobbles a skier down the hill is weaving
anyone arriving from above is always responsible for
avoiding those below.
No exceptions. No excuses.
The avalanche risk today is 3 out of 5.
This is a significant risk, most bad accidents occur on a 3 out of 5.
The highest risk here today is to ski tourers who venture far onto
slopes that haven’t been skied much this year.
There are still old slabs that haven’t yet moved, covered with heavy new snow.
If you fancy skiing off piste, look carefully at your intrepid companions…
would they be any use if things went badly wrong ?
Do they all have at least beep, probe and shovel
and all know how to use them ?
When did they last practice ? This year ??
Any doubts ? Stay on piste,
or book to ski with and learn from a mountain guide.
Don’t forget to check if your insurance covers off piste.
Helicopters are expensive.
If you are going to Tignes use the Tommeuse or Borsat chairlifts.
Don’t forget the last lift back is at 16.30.
There are tracks prepared for Cross country enthusiasts,
in the Manchet valley and Lac Ouillette.
Walkers can enjoy all our walking tracks.
