Tribute to Gérard Mattis
Last night, more than 150 people paid tribute to Gérard Mattis at a memorial on the Bellevarde Face (see photo). The family and friends of Gérard Mattis, who passed away last January, gathered in a mountain restaurant before descending by torchlight. They were greeted with thunderous applause at the bottom of the Bellevarde Face by about thirty people gathered on the snow front.
Mont-Blanc Student Project Presentation
After conducting studies for several months in our village, students from the Savoie Mont-Blanc University will be here this morning to present the findings of two workshops. The first, led by the municipality, concerns the development of summer and winter connections in the Bellevarde area. The students have devised several restructuring scenarios to optimize the ski area, integrate a link with Tignes, and rethink summer activities to ensure overall coherence. The second workshop, led by the Vanoise National Park, focused on winter tranquility and off-piste skiing through an analysis of visitor numbers around the Val d'Isère and Tignes ski areas. A discussion period will follow each presentation. The final presentation is open to the public and will take place at 10:00 AM in the Council Room at the Maison Marcel Charvin.
Little Torches
Following the participation of around one hundred children two weeks ago and the raising of over €1,200, the ESF (French Ski School) is relaunching the "Little Torches" fundraising campaign. As a reminder, this initiative, organized by France Montagnes with the support of the ANMSM (National Association of Mountain Sports and Leisure Centers), DSF (Department of Skiing and Mountaineering), and the ESF, will give children who don't have the opportunity to go on vacation the chance to discover the mountains and their benefits. To participate in this worthwhile project, the public is invited to purchase torches. As part of the "Famille Plus, la montagne solidaire" (Family Plus, Solidarity in the Mountains) initiative, all proceeds will be donated to three committed charities: Enfance et Montagne (Childhood and Mountain), Génération Montagne (Mountain Generation), and Petits Princes (Little Princes). The P'tits Flambeaux (Little Torches) descent will take place this evening at 6:15 p.m. on the Savonnette slope. Information and reservations are available at the ESF (French Ski School) office in the village center.
Senior Couscous
Sixteen seniors from the CCAS (Municipal Social Action Center) discovered the flavors of the Orient by preparing couscous in the Council Chamber at the Maison Marcel Charvin. They followed a recipe from Renée, originally from Algeria, and also made dessert. After the cooking workshop, the seniors shared a delicious meal together, followed by a singing performance by local singers, much to their delight.
