Cross-Country Skiing
Last night, the Place des Dolomites was transformed into a veritable cross-country ski circuit for a lively night race. Forty enthusiasts competed on a temporary course, set up by the ski patrol, featuring bumps and banked turns. This friendly competition was an American-style relay: two people per team took turns for 20 minutes to complete as many laps as possible. After an intense race and several spectacular falls in a convivial and energetic atmosphere, the Les Ganivelles team, composed of Mathieu and Gaspard, took first place with 28 laps, closely followed by the Luna team, Léna and Luca, with 27 laps. The BFF team finished third with 26 laps. Participants also had the opportunity to test equipment loaned by the sports shops in the Place des Dolomites. The next race will be held next Wednesday.
Brain Gym
Seniors from the CCAS (Community Social Action Center) are invited this afternoon to a Brain Gym session led by Lauren and Christine. This brain exercise is an original method based on very simple, fun, and easy-to-perform body movements that stimulate specific areas of the brain. The method includes a total of 26 very short movements that can be done independently at any time of day. These exercises help the brain with memorization, reading, and concentration, as well as reducing and relieving stress. This two-hour session will be an opportunity for seniors to move, breathe, and enjoy each other's company. Registration is required. The session will begin at 2:00 PM in the Council Room at the Maison Marcel Charvin.
Slope Safety Charter
Eight ski schools, including the Sports Club, Val d'Isère Tourism, Val d'Isère Cable Cars, the Ski Lift Authority, and the municipality, signed the Ambassador Charter for Safety and Well-being on the Slopes last night at the Maison Marcel Charvin (pictured). Following the warning issued by 400 teaching professionals regarding safety concerns and genuine anxiety about the poor behavior of too many skiers, the town council decided to launch a comprehensive campaign encompassing communication, improvements, prevention, and training. For the past year, the principle of "Respect for Others, Safety for All" has been central to the work of the Steering Committee, which brings together representatives from major organizations. The goal is to create a positive environment where everyone can enjoy themselves safely on the slopes. In this comprehensive initiative, the more than 600 ski instructors can play a leading role thanks to their constant presence on the slopes. Professionals will act as ambassadors for this charter on the slopes. Sports instructors will teach younger students the rules of conduct and safety, and they will also teach and train adults on safety procedures. They will adapt the conditions for their group's activities to the environment. Professionals will also play a role in communication and negotiation, providing information and positive, supportive guidance to prevent conflicts and enable everyone to find a respectful solution so they can all enjoy the ski area safely.
