Town Council

The first town council meeting of the year was held yesterday morning in the council chamber at the Maison Marcel Charvin, with 17 elected officials in attendance. Before the start of the meeting, the elected officials observed a minute of silence for Colette Boson and for all the victims who died in the New Year's fire at a bar in Crans-Montana, Switzerland. They then voted to approve the minutes of the December 8th town council meeting before the mayor announced the 17 decisions made. Twenty-two items were on the agenda. The dates for the 2026 summer season were confirmed: the season will run from July 4th to August 30th. Numerous questions were raised regarding the compensation for the right of overhang concerning the occupation of public and private land within the municipality. At the beginning of the year, the initial budget for the 2026 town budget was approved, with three votes against. Another vote against and two abstentions were recorded for the authorization to submit the building permit application for the Face à Face building and the authorization to carry out work on municipal land. Finally, two abstentions were recorded regarding the 2025 balancing subsidy for the supplementary budget for cultural and sports facilities. After the agenda was completed, several topics were raised and sparked debate, including the tragedy in Crans-Montana, Switzerland, which prompted questions from some elected officials about the differences in regulations and safety between nightclubs and bars and restaurants with a festive atmosphere, as well as the latest information concerning Val d'Isère's bid for the 2030 French Alps Winter Olympics. The full report is available on our website. The next town council meeting will be held on Monday, February 2nd, at 8:30 a.m. in the Council Chamber at the Maison Marcel Charvin.
