Réveil Avalin

Last night, the second public meeting of the Réveil Avalin list for the municipal elections was held at the snow front for the hamlets of Chatelard, Joseray, and Legettaz. All the candidates, headed by Xavier Mattis, presented themselves to the sixty or so people in attendance. The Réveil Avalin group outlined the four main points of its platform. This presentation was followed by a discussion on several topics, including the contract with STVI (the Val d'Isère transport company) which expires in 2032, which platform item is the priority and most urgent, traffic and safety issues in the Joseray area, the neighborhood's heritage and chapels, residents' feeling of being neglected, the situation of former residents forced to leave Val d'Isère, the attractiveness of the Manchet Valley, the development of the ski area, the future of the agricultural sector, the challenges of roadworks in winter and summer, and finally, the snow dump at the Joseray bridge. The next meeting for the hamlet of La Daille will be held this Sunday at 5:00 PM at the Les Tontons restaurant.

Census

Your public services will close… if you don't register for the census. This is the communication campaign launched by the town hall for the census, which ends this Saturday. The municipality invites all residents who have not yet been counted in the census to complete the questionnaire. Access codes have been delivered to mailboxes. If you do not receive a receipt or acknowledge receipt after completing the census, it means you are not counted. You should then call the town hall. A staff member is also available every day from 5:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the town hall to provide information and answer residents' questions. As a reminder, the census determines future state subsidies to the municipality and the size of public services for the next 10 years. Services impacted by the census include the number of classes in schools, Val d'Isère's classification as a tourist resort, the amount of subsidies for associations, and the number of street cleaning staff. Although rarely enforced, the census is mandatory, under penalty of a €38 fine.

Food Guide

The Val d’Isère Social Action Center (CCAS) has released its booklet on access to food. After identifying a problem with food access in the resort, a working group was formed with the CCAS, Vie Val d'Is, and local residents. This booklet is a practical tool designed to support residents in their daily food-related endeavors. The 12-page booklet provides a list of nearby grocery stores, available discounts, delivery options, tips on cooking on a budget, useful contacts, and information on assistance provided by the CCAS and other associations. It is available now on the town hall website, on the CCAS page. A printed version is also available from the CCAS. A first cooking workshop on reducing food waste will also be held tomorrow at 7:00 PM in the Presbytery Hall.
