Town Council

A new town council meeting was held yesterday morning with 17 elected officials present (see photo). They approved the minutes of the April 3rd town council meeting before the mayor made three decisions. The agenda included 26 items, including the creation of municipal committees, the transfer fees for communal land, the occupation of public and private property within the municipality with the determination of compensation for overhang rights, authorization for STVI to carry out work on municipal plots related to its zipline project, the vote on 2026 tax rates, and the setting of opening and closing dates for the ski area for the 2026/2027 winter season, which will run from Saturday, November 28, 2026, to Sunday, May 2, 2027. The opposition demonstrated its position by voting against three resolutions: the Mountain Law agreement for the Tête de Solaise refuge, the vote on the initial 2026 budget for parking, and the setting of ski lift fees and the commitment to a transitional agreement on allocation and versatility. Items 22 and 23 concerning the setting of access fees for the bike park for the 2026 summer season and Amendment No. 1 to the 2025-2026 objectives agreement for the allocation of a supplementary subsidy to Val d'Isère Tourism for the 2026 summer cultural program and the regularization of the "Ambassador" program subsidy could not be discussed as a quorum was not reached. Two topics were raised during the miscellaneous business section, including the rescheduling of the 2030 Winter Olympic Games and Xavier Mattis's appeal, which will be heard by the Grenoble Administrative Court on Thursday, May 21. The full minutes of the municipal council meeting are available on our website. Due to the items postponed for lack of a quorum, the next meeting will be held in the coming days before the one scheduled for Thursday, June 4. We will inform you of the date and time.

Summer Roadworks

Roadworks are being organized by the Departmental Directorate of Equipment between now and the off-season. ENEDIS (the electricity distribution network operator) will be carrying out work on power lines during the off-season from La Chapelle du Fornet to the bottom of Laisinant, with no impact expected during the summer. Asphalt resurfacing will also be carried out by the Tovex condominium association. The Haute-Tarentaise Community of Municipalities' network will also be affected this autumn by the renovation of the water and sanitation system on Rue du Coin. Other works are planned on the road leading to Val d'Isère. On the RD 902, work on the Rassel hairpin bends will be carried out by the department starting at the end of May and lasting for two months. Therefore, from the first week of work, alternating one-way traffic will be in place until the end of the project, scheduled for the end of July. Work will also take place in the Villaret du Nial tunnel located on the RD 902. The department will carry out waterproofing work, widening to meet current standards, and repairs to the tunnel vault. A study will be conducted this year before the work begins in 2027 and is expected to last two years. Following the studies, traffic will be significantly impacted. Further information will be provided by the Department.
