Local News

Seasonal Workers' Evening

Last night, the traditional welcome evening for seasonal workers, organized by the Vie Val d'Is association, took place. The evening was lively thanks to the numerous activities offered and the presence of various associations from the resort and the surrounding area. More than 300 people attended to discover the new activities for this winter, as well as to meet and chat with the associations and seasonal workers.

Ski Lessons

Vie Val d'Is is offering its members free ski lessons for beginners today. Lessons are available from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM and/or from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM. You can register with the association for one or more sessions. The next free ski lesson will be tomorrow at the same times. Don't worry if you don't have ski equipment; it can be provided.

Loyalty Medals

Loyalty medals are also making a comeback at the start of this season . Last night, four new medals were awarded to English friends in a bar located at the foot of the slopes in La Daille. All four met in Val d'Isère. Stefan Bialkowski received the gold medal for his 43 years of loyalty. Since arriving in the resort, thanks to his father and a friend, Stefan appreciates and enjoys every moment here. He loves the mountains, the people, the skiing, and wouldn't want to go anywhere else. He reminisces about wonderful memories, great encounters, and his friends. Peter Holland received the silver medal for his 38 years of loyalty. He jokingly admits to having made a mistake before coming here, as he initially went to Tignes before spending the rest of his holidays in Val d'Isère. He loves the slopes of the ski area and considers the resort his second home. He enjoys après-ski in this bar where their beers always get ice-cold. Roger Stearn also received the silver medal for his 35 years of loyalty. He learned to ski in Val d'Isère and was captivated by the beauty of the mountains, which led him to return to his beloved resort time and time again. He remembers skiing in an international group with a French ski instructor. She asked him why Roger was at the back and explained that he should be at the front because his English is good even in the fog. The final bronze medalist is Peter Johnston with 28 years of loyalty. For him, Val d'Isère is the best ski resort in the world, and he has wonderful friends here. He has so many memories that he can't choose just one or share them all. These four friends were sponsored by Yann Gunie, and the ceremony was presided over by Dominique Maire.
