and it should start snowing again this afternoon.
It is warmer, and at 07.00 it was 5° warmer than the same time yesteray.

The temperature at 10.00 :

  • +3° in the Village.

ROADS

No problems expected on the roads today.

SKI REPORT

Life is good !
The lifts are already running, nearly all of our
pistes are beautifully groomed
and the resort is quiet !

Will share the few exceptions :
Due to the work replacing the bubbles
Le Fornet is closed below the Col draglift.
Here is how you can still access the Pisaillas glacier :
From Solaise take either the Leissieres chairlift
or the more challenging route of the 3000 draglift
followed by the very black, bumpy, ungroomed Tunnel run.
before it closes on Sunday.

The only way home is back on the Leissieres chairlift.
DO NOT try skiing down to le Fornet -
You risk being run over by one of the many big machines.
It is not fair on the busy drivers
If you recklessly cross the barriers.

The following are closed for the season :

  • The Bellevarde and the Loyes chairlifts
  • Brinzei and Ecureil touring track
  • Lanches draglift and piste
  • The Snow Park

  • The lower parts of the :
  • Marmottons
  • Epaule du Charvet
  • Joseray

On BELLEVARDE
They are training for tomorrow's race
In the Alpine Park
go and watch from 10.00 - 13.00.

There is training on the upper parts of the
OK and the Orange this morning.

Most pistes were groomed overninght
Apart from :
ON SOLAISE

  • Combe Martin
  • 3000
  • Marmottons
  • S

ON BELLEVARDE

  • Borsat

Tignes can be accessed via either the Tommeuses or the Borsat chairlifts.

The avalanche risk today is 2 out of 5.

If you are considering skiing off piste :
be careful as there still slabs and the risk of small avalanches.
Could your mates, find and dig you out
Quickly ?
Maybe ski with a mountain guide.
Remember, if coming off piste down from the Vallonnets,
especially in today's limited visibility,
they are making good progress clearing snow off the road.
Suddenly skiing onto tarmac is not nice.

Cross country skiers
Can enjoy the groomed tracks  :

  • Manchet
  • Lac d'Ouillette

All our walking paths are open,
though some now have a more summery feel,
except for :

  • Les Branges
  • Joseray
  • Col de l'Iseran

LOCAL NEWS

Finally, after weeks of anticipation the Alpine Park starts today
with training for the 32 athletes before tomorrows race.
Why not go and watch from 10.00 - 13.00 ?

Yesterdays « Ski DeBrief « in our Conference Centre
attracted many of the key players in the French mountain economy.
Overall, our ski resorts had a good winter,
with a  2% increase in visitors, but this disguises the peaks and troughs.
High-altitude resorts now account for 80% of the French ski world,
where « ski days » increased by 7%
with a similar bounce in equipment sales and hire
along with 3% more ski lessons.
However, snow conditions were good in the Alps and other high-altitude resorts,
but very poor elsewhere.
One Jura resort closed for the winter on 15th February.
A perceptive shopkeeper from Morzine, which sits at just 900 metres,
pointed out that :
« The rain-snow level is rising, but the moutains aren’t ».
Some wise lower resorts have looked to the future, adapted,
and are already making 50% of their income from summer activities.

On Wednesday, the road team from our local council began clearing the snow
from the road to the Iseran mountain pass
and made impressive progress navigating the hairpins
moving snow that was at times higher than our big machines !
Visual evidence is on our website.

The Sports Club (Club des Sports) took advantage of yesterday's sunshine for their annual group photo.
