Tourism Breakfast
Yesterday morning, the first tourism breakfast of the year was held. Val d'Isère Tourisme discussed partnerships with around thirty tourism professionals in attendance. Val d'Isère Tourisme aims to update the partnership and pricing rules to better reflect the role and resources of its members. Two objectives were outlined: a fairer and more robust membership fee model, and a brand that expands internationally and generates new revenue. The reform of the partnership model is expected to meet several criteria, including transparency and traceability, a tangible return on investment, visible benefits for members, equitable contributions, shared governance and responsiveness, as well as a clear strategy and effective actions. Proposed criteria for the 2026/2027 membership fee reform were also presented to the tourism professionals. Seasonal adjustments will also be made, with an incentive surcharge of 50% (instead of 30%) for those open fewer than 150 days a year, and a discount of up to 70% for those open only during the summer. The development plan will be based on maintaining the existing collaborative framework, including benefits and eligibility criteria, and will propose the implementation of service and/or goods exchange contracts. The meeting was followed by a discussion on several topics, including the importance of a strong brand, the desire for more resources and more concrete actions, the development of the summer season, the challenging environment for promotion, and the lack of interest from some businesses. Discussions also focused on structuring the membership base with oversight and decision-making power, and creating an office to implement initiatives. During this first week of the school holidays, local businesses shared positive feedback from their clients regarding the ambassadors present at the new bus station, and also discussed the issue of the behavior of young Danish people currently in the resort.
Literary Encounter
The literary events are back in the village. In partnership with Elle magazine and the M'Lire bookstore, Les Barmes de l’Ours and its tea room and pastry shop, Crazy Barm’s, host the Val d’Isère Literary Encounters every February. This booklet recounts her journey as a medium and, for the first time, shares her personal deck of cards that she used in all her consultations. Yaguel Didier will reveal his divination secrets and invite the public to discover the keys to their destiny through his book. This event will take place at 7:00 PM and will be moderated by Jérôme Neutres.
National Ski Patrollers' Day
The Val d'Isère Ski Patrol Association celebrated International Ski Patrollers' Day yesterday on the snow front. The public was able to watch demonstrations with avalanche dogs, participate in first aid exercises and drills, and even climb aboard the snow groomer to discover the equipment used by the patrollers for providing care and ensuring slope safety.
