Nicholas Davies—known as Nick— sadly passed away on May 23rd after a courageous three-year battle with cancer. He was just shy of his 52nd birthday. Originally from Gloucester, England, Nick arrived in Val d'Isère in 1999 to work for Mark Warner, a well-known British tour operator at the time. He later worked as a ski technician for both Oxygène and Snowberry.
A keen skier, it was a simple decision to make Val d'Isère his home, soon becoming a fixture in the village's British community. He was a skilled skier who loved off-piste terrain and, in particular, telemark skiing. Nick was equally passionate about road cycling, often climbing up the local mountain passes.
He was the partner of Caroline Terrini for ten years, with whom they share a son, now six years old. Elliot is his parents' light and joy, and was a ray of sunshine in his father's life throughout his illness. Nick was out skiing this past winter with friends and—whenever possible—with his son Elliot. His passing brings great sadness to all who knew him, including his family, his friends, Caroline, and Elliot. A tribute will be held today at Chez Jules starting from 3:00 PM, followed by a gathering at the Val d'Isère cemetery.
