Weather

The snow arrived late into the night, and is coming down in force this morning. An additional 20 cm of snow is possible throughout the day, especially in the Fornet/Pisaillas area. Conditions will begin to calm down around midday, leaving behind a mostly overcast sky. The winds are still strong across the mountains this morning, although it's starting to calm down, currently gusting up to 40 km/hr at the top of Solaise.

As for temperatures, at 9 o'clock it's -2°C in the village, and -5°C at the top of Solaise. Unfortunately our Pisaillas weather station is out of order. Today we can expect a top of 0°C at 2000m.

Roads

Winter conditions exist on the local roads this morning, either snow tyres, chains or snow socks are necessary to move around town this morning.
Further down in the valleys, traffic flow will return to normal for vehicles heading in both directions. However, slight slowdowns may be possible between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m.

Local News

Great demonstration of solidarity yesterday afternoon at the Sports Club. The association presented a check for €1,250 to the “Dans les Yeux de Gabin'' association. A sum which corresponds to the “solidarity bibs'' operation launched last summer for the High Trail Vanoise races. When registering, runners could choose to donate the registration fees to a good cause, and around twenty trail runners chose this option. A system which will return this summer during the High Trail Vanoise, aiming to double the number of runners registering for a charity, in addition to the Odysséa race.
It was Rémy, Gabin's dad, and president of the club's rugby section who received the check, a sum which will finance training courses for Gabin in the Spring or Autumn.

A huge success last night for the bingo night, held by the local council. The large room of the Sports Club was filled with players, of all generations, who came mainly to have fun, also to win one of the many prizes at stake.
In addition to the game was a show presented by Bertrand Bouché, who had swapped out his police chief uniform to that of a host. Photos to be seen on the Radio Val website during the day.

Alpine skiing with the Ladies G.S. yesterday in Åre, Sweden. Federica Brignone took home another win, and Clara Direz, the only Frenchwoman in the running, finished in a good 7th place.
Today's schedule features a slalom, a race which should see the return of Mikaela Shifrin, following a knee injury at the end of January. The American has announced that she does not want to participate in the speed events in Saalbach next weekend, thus effectively giving up her sixth big crystal globe.
Barring any surprises, the overall title should go to Lara Gut Behrami, who is nearly 300 points ahead of her runner-up Federica Brignone.
