Today's Weather

Last night the stars were hidden by clouds, but there was also a little bit of snow - just enough to refresh the trees.
The pistes are in great condition but take care because for much of the day the sun won't be around to light up our turns, though we are told that we will get short periods of sun this afternoon.
Googles with lenses suitable for low light will make your day easier.
Temperatures at 9 a .m are very mild,
0° in the centre of the village
0° on Solaise,
-5 on Pisaillas.
The maximum temperature will be 0° at 2000 m.
There will be a gentle breeze for much of the day with occasional gusts of 32 km/hour.

Roads

Although the roads in the village are in good condition, it is likely to be a very busy weekend on the roads, both to and from our Alpine paradise.
It is predicted to be the busiest change-over weekend of the winter, with 71,000 vehicles heading up from Moutiers and 65,000 travelling downhill towards Albertville.
So why not plan in advance, for those who have the luxury of being flexible.
Try and avoid leaving between 16.00 and 20.00 this evening or between 09.00 and 14.00 tomorrow.
For those arriving tomorrow, it is going to be busy all day from 09.00 and 20.00. Plan for this to be a slow journey so you have interesting stations to listen to, for instance RadioVal, drinks and tasty snacks in the car with you and a big dollop of patience.
Travelling on the roads on Sunday should be a pleasure as “those in the know” are predicting free moving traffic, and the scenery en route is stunning.

Today's Events

The week of Christmas magic concludes today.

16.30 to 18.00
Your dancing shoes will be worn out – this is the third day that I have mentioned them this week !
The Elves of the Batucadance will have you tapping your toes to the rhythm of their drums while they perform in the centre of the village, the foot of the nursery slopes, before dancing past the ice-skating rink before turning the Avenue Olympique, the main street into a huge stage.
“Batacuda” was a new term for me, but apparently it describes music that
Is Fast and repetitive.
Has Brazilian with African roots.
Is a type of Samba.
Performed today, in the less than tropical climate of Val d’Isère, it sounds like a lot of fun.

17.45
Dynastar Trophy

This race is open to all holidaymakers, and only to holidaymakers who do not belong to an Alpine Ski Club, who want to discover the pleasures of a competing in a ski race.  This will be a parallel slalom and will take place on the Savonnette slope.
There are three categories: children, women and men.
The winners of each category will receive a Dynastar prize.
A pair of skis to be won in the draw for the men's and women's competitions.
It is free to enter but there are only 32 places for men and children and 16 places for women, and there are a lot more people than that here on holiday at the moment, so if you want to experience the thrill of racing don’t hang around – get to the Club de Sports office to register ASAP.
