Weather

Light snowfall is possible throughout the morning under an overcast sky. Around lunchtime, the weather will largely clear up, with blue skies and sunshine making their return. Light to Moderate Westerly winds will be present across our mountains today, getting up to speeds of 40 km/hr.
As for temperatures, at 9 a.m. it is -1°C in the village, -8°C at the top of Bellevarde, and -11°C at Pisaillas. Today we can expect a top of 3°C at 2000m.

Roads

Despite the light snowfall, the roads are black and clear, no major difficulties are expected for vehicles in the local area.

Ski Report

An additional 7cm of fresh snow has fallen across the ski area overnight, creating some pretty fantastic late season conditions. The majority of the terrain will be open today.

The Pisaillas will have a delayed opening to the public today. Eventually, all runs are expected to open apart from the Combe du Geant due to avalanche danger.

In the Fornet sector today, all lifts will be open, however the Signal drag lift will open with a delay. All runs are open apart from the Tunnel.

Over on Solaise, all lifts will open on time apart from the 3000 lift, where ski patrol continue to dig the lift out, and get it back to an operational state. Everything will be open on the snowfront today including the tobogganing area.

In the Bellevarde sector, the Mont Blanc chairlift remains closed, with hopes the lift will re-open to the public soon. All other lifts will be open. Portions of the Raye and the OK and Orange runs will be reserved for racing today, and will reopen to the public afterwards. Skiing in Tignes can be accessed via the Tommeuse or Borsat lifts.

Cross Country skiers and Pedestrians can head out to any of our trails today, apart from the Branges and the Col d'Iseran.

The avalanche risk is 3/5 today. Always ski with a partner, have the appropriate gear and know how to use it, and if in doubt hire a guide.

Local News

This week Val d'Isère is hosting the Scara, an international alpine ski championship for young people in the U14's and U16's divisions. Today and tomorrow, the French selections will take place, with 500 young people competing, representing around a hundred clubs in France. The best will then face the international skiers on Thursday and Friday. The races will take place in the Bellevarde sector, on the OK run for the Super Gs, similar to the women's speed events of the Critérium de la Première Neige at the start of the season. The Slalom events will go ahead on the Raye.
Celebrations will also continue in the centre of the village. Starting with Wednesday evening for the prize ceremony for the French selections. The best young French skiers will be awarded prizes on the same stage which welcomes the Alpine Skiing World Cup champions in December. This is followed by a concert by DJ Matafan, between 5:45 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. The next day, it's time for the parade of nations, where the different teams will hoist their countries flags and walk through
the streets of the village. The great skiing nations will be in attendance such as Switzerland, Austria, Italy, as well as more exotic countries such as Hong Kong, Australia, and Argentina. Last year, 39 nations were represented, a record amount.
The racing starts today, with the French U16's pre-qualifiers, starting at 10:30 a.m. for the girls, 12:30 p.m. for the boys. (Our Photo: Last year's qualifications).

In other Alpine skiing news, the speed events of the French alpine ski championships, originally scheduled to take place today and Thursday in Megève, have been cancelled. After a mix of rain and snow covering the course over the last two days, it is no longer possible to carry out the races and meet the safety standards. The technical events, from Friday to Sunday, will still go ahead, with ice being injected into the course on Wednesday to get things back on track.

The village seniors are invited to meet up at 2:30 p.m. at the Maison de Val for an artistic workshop with Rozenn, at the invitation of the CCAS.
