ROADS
No problems are expected on our roads today.
Tomorrow is another busy change-over-Saturday.
If you can delay your departure,
why not use the “Free” extra day If you bought a 6-day pass,
as Saturdays are a very good day to be skiing.
SKI REPORT
For the most up-to-date information please click here.
Here are the highlights of the ski report.
Nearly everything is open and most pistes were groomed last night.
Only 1 lift and 2 pistes will be closed all day.
ON BELLEVARDE
The middle part of the orange and the Epaule du Charvet were not groomed.
The upper parts of the OK and Orange, and the Raye
will be closed this morning for training
before opening for everyone.
If you like jumping, the Snow Park has a range of obstacles
to suit all skill levels.
Jumping on a normal piste is dangerous, and 'not cool'.
For speed lovers, or those that want to learn how to control their speed :
The ski patrol have set up a Super G course on the Borsat.
This is for anyone to have a go, in the safest conditions, one by one.
You pick the speed……slow & steady, super fast or anything between.
Go there before 14.00.
Free and you don’t need to register.
The idea is that you can have fun while learning
how to control your speed, and don’t frighten, or injure
other people when skiing on open pistes.
Even if you are used to skiing fast,
it doesn’t mean you could stop if you came over a roll
and there was a small child in front of you.
Just because it is your last day, if you feel Brave on a blue,
don’t go on one of our famous but tricky black runs.
Just lie to your friends in Fulham !
The Face will still be here when you come back.
ON SOLAISE
The 3000 lift and piste are closed.
The S, Cugnai, Rhone Alps and Marmottons were not groomed.
For tourers -the Ecureuil track is never groomed.
LE FORNET
Everything is open except the Tunnel.
The Foret is never groomed.
ON PISAILLAS
Everything is open and groomed.
NURSERY SLOPE
Everything is open and groomed, including the tobogganing area.
The avalanche risk today is 2 out of 5.
Low risk but not no risk.
There are still wind slabs lurking which might take you for a
fast, painful ride
onto rocks or over a cliff.
If tempted to ski off piste, look closely at your group.
When did they last practice with their beep, probe and shovel ?
Listen to your gut…stay on piste or ski with one of our many mountain guides.
They do know where they are going, and what they are doing.
If you are going to Tignes, where the skiing is almost as good as Val,
use the Tommeuse or Borsat chairlifts.
All of our walking, multi activity and cross country tracks are open.
Why not take the lift up to top of le Fornet ,
and walk along the Col de l’Iseran, Europe’s highest mountain pass.
LOCAL NEWS
Our pisteurs are very aware that people are worried about their
safety on the slopes.
Who doesn’t love a bit of speed ?
Sadly, lots of speed freaks don’t realise how out of control
they really are.
So, today, for the first time, the pisteurs are setting up a
Super G course on the Borsat which will be open until 14.00
for everyone to enjoy
So you can zooooooom as fast or slow as you like.
In the safest possible conditions.
Hopefully even learn how to control your speed
And adapt to all situations.
So when on a ‘normal piste’ you can slow down
or stop if you suddenly see someone just below you on the slope.
The skier arriving from above is always responsible for
avoiding anyone below.
Even if that person is parked or pfaffing.
If today’s test goes well the ski patrol will assess and improve it.
Possibly, with the aim to make it a more permanent feature.
Last night, 240 lucky comedy lovers enjoyed the Paname Comedy Club.
