Weather
Today it is looking less exciting than the sunshine that we have been treated to so far this week. the sky will be overrcast all day, so good news if you are heading home today hopefully the grey skies will help ease the sadness as you drive down the mountain later!
Light snowfall is expected, but only about a centimetre on the peaks. A light easterly breeze is expected today, sitting at around 12 km per hour but gusts may occasiuonally reach up to 50km per hour on the peaks.
Temperatures are currently sitting at 0 degrees in the village, -7 at the top of bellevarde, and -11 on pisaillas, with a high of -1 so a chilly day in the mountains.
If you're leaving today, the traffic going down the mountain between Bourg Saint Maurice and Moutiers is heavy so if you're setting of now it will add some time to your journey. We actually recommend delaying your departure to later this afternoon if possible as traffic will ease off by then. And going up, there will be traffic between Albertville and Moutiers until later this afternoon.
Roads are clear if you are on wheels, but watch out for ice on the pavements. Dont forget to take your hands out your pockets.
Traffic on RN 90
We want to remind drivers that traffic is thankfully flowing smoothly again in both directions on the RN 90, which is the road between albertville and moutiers where a landslide occurred a few days ago.
The road reopened to traffic yesterday afternoon, ahead of schedule. Initially, it was expected to open at 4 o clock, but the Savoie Prefecture announced that the road would be clear by half past two instead of half past four.
Today, around 32,000 vehicles are expected to head uphill near Moûtiers, while about 29,000 vehicles will be heading downhill. Yesterday, traffic was generally flowing well, but some congestion was reported near Chambéry.
By 5 PM, half of the traffic heading uphill had passed, while 74% of vehicles going downhill had already cleared the area.
