Weather:
A beautiful day!
Good news for the sunshine lovers, we have some glorious weather on the cards for you today, we are expecting sun and blue skies from dawn until dusk.
The wind will be light today, from the northeast on mountain peaks.
Temperatures will be relatively mild, currently (0900) sitting at -6 in the Village, minus 3 at the top of Bellevarde, and minus 2 on Pisaillas. We are looking towards a comfortable maximum of 5 degrees today at 2000m, and 3 degrees in town. The strong sun will warm up the south facing slopes, and may begin to melt some of the snow so it may feel a bit slushy when skiing.
If you're heading up the mountain today, a fantastic day is on the cards with glorious sunshine and almost everything will be open.
In Le Fornet, everything is open except signal and tunnel pistes.
On the Pissaillas glacier everything is open with no exceptions.
Up in Solaise everything is open except the 3000 which remains closed.
On Bellevarde, everything is open including the liaisons with Tignes, the chairs Tommeuse and Borsat.
In the beginners area, everything is open including the tobogganing area.
The walking trails and cross country trails are all open.
We are expecting a fantastic day today, I hope you all enjoy the sun. If youre heading off piste be sure to take the right equipment with you, including a transceiver, shovel and probe. Ideally, take an experienced person too or even better hire a guide if you are not sure what you are doing. Oh... and dont get sunburnt!
Roads:
The road is clear with no issues for vehicles. ...But, if youve fallen over as many times as I have, you'll know full well that icy patches are often found on the pavements!
News
Yesterday morning, the municipal council met with 14 elected officials present. During the session, 16 topics were discussed. Among them, the 2025 preliminary budgets of the city, which sparked debates, cultural, sports, and tourist facilities, as well as the Ski Slope Management and the allocation of grants for associations for the 2025 fiscal year, and changes to the “program authorization and payment credits” for the rehabilitation of the old swimming pool.
One of the major topics discussed was the overall revision of the Local Urban Plan (PLU). This included an update on the prior consultation process to finalize the project. After long explanations by the mayor regarding the process, several issues were raised regarding hotels and the real estate market, both for tenants and owners. Constructive debates lasted for more than thirty minutes. In total, three points were subject to votes against or abstentions.
During the open questions, several topics were raised, including the landslide accident on the Moûtiers road, the 2030 Winter Olympics, cleanliness of the snow front, and the call for attention to avalanche and seasonal workers who cannot afford to eat enough.
The full report of the February municipal council can be found on our website. The next meeting will be held on Monday, March 3rd at 8:30 AM at the Maison Marcel Charvin.
