Jorsat Wall Works
The department is finalizing the restoration work on the Jorat Wall, located on the RD 902 at the locality known as "Le Rassel" in Sainte-Foy-Tarentaise. This second and final phase will take place over two months, from the end of May to the end of July. Prior to this, a site safety operation, including the installation of protective fencing, will begin today, with alternating one-way traffic in place for a maximum of four days. To minimize the impact on traffic, particularly the transport of personnel to and from the station, this alternating one-way traffic will be in place after 9:00 a.m. and will be removed before 4:00 p.m. There will be no alternating one-way traffic outside these hours, nor on weekends or Friday afternoons.
Siaix Tunnel Works
Other works will begin today. As part of ongoing efforts to improve user safety, the Interdepartmental Directorate of Roads for the Central-Eastern Region is continuing renovation and improvement work on the ventilation system in the Siaix Tunnel, located on the RN 90. The work will take place at night from tonight until Friday, from 10:00 PM to 5:00 AM, and will therefore require the closure of the Siaix Tunnel in both directions. A detour will be in place for light vehicles only, via the RD 220 and RD 88 (Notre-Dame-du-Pré). Due to the geometry of the route, vehicles weighing over 3.5 tonnes or exceeding 5 meters in length will not be able to use it. In the event of technical difficulties or adverse weather conditions, this work may be postponed to the nights of Monday, April 27th to Thursday, April 30th, 2026, at the same times.
Villaret Race
Yesterday, the traditional Villaret du Nial race took place (see photo). About fifteen locals gathered in traditional attire and donned vintage skis for a race and a friendly get-together. This tradition has been going strong since 2014.
Lilou received the elegance award, and Alban Boraso won the race despite a difficult start with a broken binding. The locals paid tribute to those who have passed away, including Pim, Minet, Hérald Ferrando, and Jean-Charles Boraso. The organizers presented an honorary trophy to the Miloz family, who host them every year. A special mention was also given to Lucie, Rolland, and François, who put on skis for the first time during the race. A very successful event that brought together around thirty people and was followed by a meal.
