Municipal Elections
The Réveil Avalin party was elected by the residents of Avalin in the municipal elections. Réveil Avalin, headed by Xavier Mattis, received 685 votes, or 59.4%.
The Avaline Impulse, headed by incumbent mayor Patrick Martin, received 468 votes, representing 40.6%.
In total, out of 1,169 voters, 1,153 votes were valid and 16 were blank or invalid. Of the 1,470 registered voters, 1,169 cast ballots, representing a 79.4% turnout, with a participation rate of 31.5% at midday. Approximately sixty people were present in the room to witness the vote count. The municipal councilors, the majority of whom are from the Reveil Avaline party, will vote on Friday to elect the mayor, who, as a rule, is the head of the list, in this case Xavier Mattis. The new municipal council will be composed of 19 elected officials, including 15 from the Avaline Awakening party and 4 from the Avaline Impulse. The newly elected officials will meet on Friday morning at 8:30 a.m. at the Marcel Charvin House for the installation council of the next municipal council and therefore to vote for the new mayor and his deputies.
Diego Bonnevie
Last weekend, the French Youth Ski Mountaineering Long Distance Team Championships were held at the Pierra Menta in Arêches-Beaufort. Eighty-one young racers in the U16, U18, and U20 categories competed on a long-distance course of approximately 16 kilometers in teams of two. Diego Bonnevie and Jakob Landon finished 8th out of 22 in the U20 category. Competing against the international elite, including the best young ski mountaineers, the Val d'Isère native and his teammate completed 1,720 meters of vertical gain over four ascents.
Addiction Prevention
The nursing team from the Le Pélican association will be in Val d'Isère this afternoon with a prevention booth about addictions. If you need to talk about your own or your loved ones' use of tobacco, drugs, and alcohol, you will have the opportunity to speak with healthcare professionals. Harm reduction materials and brochures will be available to participants. This prevention session is free and anonymous, with no appointment necessary. Please note that individual appointments are available. Appointments are available from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM in the Saint-Jacques building, located in the Impasse du Planay. Ecomove Day
Tomorrow, Ecomove Day, organized by Vie Val d'Is, will take place. This year's event features a new element: the association will be offering local organizations the opportunity to partner with them. Vie Val d'Is volunteers will be visiting professionals to provide information, encourage participation, and distribute promotional materials. Businesses interested in this initiative can highlight or test a waste reduction action of their choice, such as limiting individually packaged goods, distributing unsold items at the end of the day, or reducing single-use products. They should send their interest in participating by email to contact@vievaldis.com and will subsequently receive a poster to display in their establishment. Vie Val d'Is is committed to promoting initiatives and concrete actions undertaken by businesses to reduce their waste or limit their production on Ecomove Day, which will be held tomorrow on tourism office square.
Vie Val d'Is Thrift Store
Due to preparations for Ecomove Day, the Vie Val d'Is thrift store has been closed since yesterday and will remain so until Thursday at noon while it relocates to the event in the Place de l'Office de Tourisme.
Avalanche Prevention
The Vie Val d'Is association is offering a conference this evening on avalanche prevention for snowboarders. This is an opportunity for participants to learn about off-piste risks and the necessary equipment. The presentation will include discussions with mountain professionals and will take place at 7:00 PM in the Lores room at the Maison de Val. Registration is required and places are limited.
Little Big Festival
You only have a few days left to participate and create your short films for the Little Big Festival. Your masterpieces must be submitted before midnight on Sunday to Radio Val d'Isère, Vie Val d'Is, and the Congress Center. It is still possible to register and participate in the short film festival. As a reminder, the film must include a memorable quote, be no longer than 6 minutes, be suitable for all audiences, and have credits and royalty-free music. The awards ceremony for the 6th edition of the Little Big Festival will be held on Friday, April 3rd at the Henri Oreiller Convention Centre.
