Weather

Cloudy conditions continue today with Precipitation easing and is now limited to higher ground, with no real break expected before the end of the coming night. Snowfall amounts will remain light, but the snow will be dry and increasingly calm, with less wind. By this evening, 5 to 10 centimetres are expected in the mountains, and 1 to 3 centimetres in Haute Maurienne.


Temperatures reach around 5 degrees in the plains and 3 to 4 degrees in lower valleys.  Foehn and Lombarde winds will ease by late morning. A light north-westerly flow returns this evening, around 20 to 30 kilometres per hour at 3,000 metres.


Currently at 8am it is  -10.4°C up at the Pisaillas, -7.9°C at the top of Bellevarde, -5.9 degrees up on solaise and -2°C here in town. Today we can expect a top of 0°C in the village.

Gérard Mattis

Gérard Mattis, an iconic figure in Val d'Isère who passed away at the age of 78, is resting at the Bourg-Saint-Maurice Funeral Home until Friday morning. He will then be taken in the afternoon to the Saint Roch Chapel in Val d'Isère, where it will be possible to pay respects. The funeral service will be held Tuesday morning at 10:00 a.m. at the Saint-Bernard de Menthon Church in Val d'Isère.

Additional quota for the Milan Olympics

Is Victor Muffat-Jeandet still in contention for the Olympic Games? After unveiling the official selection of the French alpine skiing delegation for the Milan-Cortina 2026 Olympic Games, the French National Olympic and Sports Committee announced an additional quota for men's alpine skiing following a reallocation. The athlete will be selected using the same criteria established by the French Ski Federation and the French National Olympic and Sports Committee for the seven other athletes already definitively selected. This eighth quota will be allocated and announced this evening.

Charter Signing

Since last year, various local stakeholders have been working together on slope safety through a range of awareness, prevention, and communication initiatives, demonstrating a daily commitment to promoting safe behavior and encouraging a more relaxed skiing experience. To solidify all the actions already undertaken, the various stakeholders, including the municipality, Val d'Isère Tourism, Val d'Isère Cable Cars, the Ski Lift Authority, and the ski schools, will sign the slope safety charter this evening at 6:00 PM in the Council Chamber at the Maison Marcel Charvin.

Cross-Country Skiing

The nighttime cross-country ski race is tonight on the Place des Dolomites. In pairs, participants will tackle a loop with bumps and banked turns, specially designed for the occasion by the Ski Patrol. A fun and friendly sporting race, where families and friends can challenge the instructors and locals. For 20 minutes, participants will have to complete as many laps as possible in an American-style relay to reach the podium and win numerous prizes. Equipment will be provided by the rental shops at Place des Dolomites, with complimentary hot drinks. Registration will take place on-site at 6:00 PM before the 6:30 PM start.

Haute Tarentaise Vanoise Photo Contest

The Haute Tarentaise Vanoise Community of Municipalities is organizing a photo contest as part of a new open-air photo exhibition, which will be on display this summer along the Green Way, located between Séez and Villaroger. Under the theme "Reflections of Life," amateur and professional photographers are invited to showcase the region, what fosters community, and what connects them to the natural world. Photos must be taken within the territory of the Haute Tarentaise Community of Municipalities, encompassing Bourg-Saint-Maurice, Les Arcs, Les Chapelles, Montvalezan, La Rosière, Sainte Foy Tarentaise, Séez, Tignes, Val d'Isère, and Villaroger. Applications are submitted via online form, and the deadline is March 26th.

Transports

-  Red Shuttle (La Daille - Le Fornet) every 10 minutes thereaAfter nightfall, departures from La Daille from
6:30 PM to 2:30 AM and from Le Fornet from 6:50 PM to 2:50 AM. A shuttle
every 20 minutes.
-  Blue Shuttle (Roundabout at the slopes – Legettaz): every 15 minutes from 8:30
a.m. to 11:20 p.m.
-  Yellow Shuttle (Le Coin – Le Manchet): departs Le Coin at 8:28 a.m. and arrives
at Le Manchet at 11:20 p.m. Shuttles run every 20 minutes.
-  Purple Shuttle (Val d’Isère – Tignes): first departure from the new bus station at
7:55 a.m. and last at 6:20 p.m. Two request stops are planned on this route,
including La Reculaz and Le Villaret du Nial.

Events

6:00 PM: Nighttime cross-country ski race on the Place des Dolomites. Free admission to all, sign ups will start at the event at 6pm and at 6.30 the race begins.

7:30 PM: Evening activities with inflatables at the Aquasport Centre
