Electoral Commission
Yesterday afternoon, the electoral roll review commission met. With the municipal elections approaching, this commission is responsible for verifying the accuracy of changes to the electoral rolls and, where applicable, reviewing mandatory prior administrative appeals. Three elected officials examined the changes to the electoral roll from December 9th to yesterday. They had access to the main list of all French citizens, the supplementary municipal list for EU citizens, as well as a working document and the ministerial circular. Each voter's file is filed alphabetically in two large binders. City Hall staff were also present to explain the voting requirements and specific rules, such as those concerning primary and secondary residences. Two members of the public were present. The commission meeting proceeded smoothly. The number of registered voters in Val d'Isère is expected to be published by Monday. As a reminder, the first round of municipal elections will take place on Sunday, March 15.
Census
Last day to register for the census. Following an extension of the census period granted by INSEE (the French National Institute of Statistics and Economic Studies), residents of Val d'Isère who have lived there for more than six months and have not yet been registered must complete the online questionnaire. As a reminder, access codes have been delivered to mailboxes. If you do not receive a receipt or acknowledge receipt after completing the census, it means you are not counted. You must then contact the town hall. Please remember that the census helps determine future state subsidies to the municipality and the size of public services for the next 10 years. Although rarely enforced, registration is mandatory, under penalty of a €38 fine.
