Local News

Little Torches

The French Ski School (ESF) is participating in the "Little Torches" solidarity campaign for children and parents. Val d'Isère will be one of 150 resorts to hold a torchlight descent simultaneously with other mountain ranges to illuminate the mountains and shine a light of solidarity for children. This charitable event, organized by France Montagnes with the support of the ANMSM, DSF, and the ESF, will give children who don't have the opportunity to go on holiday the chance to discover the mountains and their wonders. To participate in this wonderful initiative, the public is invited to purchase torches. As part of the "Family Plus, Solidarity in the Mountains" campaign, all proceeds will be donated to three committed charities: Enfance et Montagne, Génération Montagne, and Petits Princes. The Little Torches descent will take place this evening at 6:15 pm on the Savonnette slope. Information and reservations at the ESF office in the village center.

CCAS Film Screening

CCAS seniors are invited to a film screening this afternoon. Participants will have the cinema all to themselves to discover the documentary "From Glaciers to Resorts." This documentary traces a century of evolution in the Alps, from the great wild glaciers to the birth and rise of ski resorts. Several topics are addressed, including the once difficult lives of mountain dwellers, the arrival of tourism and the first mountaineers, the modernization leading to the golden age of skiing, and the current challenges related to climate change and the future of our mountains. Seniors are invited to this screening at the Le Splendid cinema at 2:45 p.m. in the Maison de Val.

Children's Show

Les Productions du Bazar are coming to Val d'Isère for "A Journey Around the Corner." This multidisciplinary show, where music, drawing, and video come together, invites young and old alike to travel from their seats. Reservations can be made at the Tourist Office today until 5:00 PM and on-site from 5:30 PM. The event takes place this evening at 6:00 PM at the Henri Oreiller Congress Center.
