Local News
PIDA
An avalanche control plan (PIDA) has been in effect since 6:50 a.m. across the entire ski area, implemented by the Ski Patrol (Régie des Pistes) to ensure the safety of the slopes.
Snow
Yesterday's severe weather impacted the ski area and the village (see photo). The link between Tignes and Val d'Isère was closed, as was the entire ski area except for the base area. Safety protocols around buildings were activated. Also for safety reasons, the roads to Le Fornet, Le Laisinant, and Le Châtelard were closed to pedestrians from 9:00 a.m. and then to vehicles from 3:00 p.m. until further notice. The road between Tignes Les Boisses and Tignes Le Lac was closed to traffic at 4:00 p.m. due to a PIDA. Shuttle services were also disrupted. The red train ran between La Daille and Les Richardes from 3 p.m. At the same time, an additional service was added for the purple train departing from the new bus station towards Tignes 1800. From the morning, the blue train only ran between the Rond-Point des Pistes roundabout and Club Med. A special transport convoy was also arranged for people staying or living in Le Fornet. A temporary, controlled opening of the road took place at 6 p.m. for a single uphill crossing from the Rond-Point des Pistes roundabout in Les Richardes to Le Fornet, followed by a single downhill crossing. The road was then permanently closed again for an indefinite period. We will keep you informed of any developments.
Clément Noël Olympics
Disappointment and disappointment: no double victory for Clément Noël. After a first run with a few mistakes, where he finished in a tie for 7th place with Austrian Marco Schwarz, the Val d'Isère Olympic champion straddled a gate during the second run. Paco Rassat was also disqualified in the first run, while Steven Amiez managed to finish the race in 18th place. To support their ambassador, the Val d'Isère Sports Club organized a fan zone with a live broadcast of the race on a giant screen installed on the Sports Club building. More than 200 people were able to experience the excitement of both runs and brave the storm to support Clément Noël and his teammates.
The Olympic slalom champion is Swiss skier Loïc Meillard, winner of the Giant Slalom and runner-up in the Slalom at the 70th anniversary Critérium. This is his third medal at these Games in Milan Cortina, following a bronze medal in the Giant Slalom and a silver medal in the team combined. France currently has 15 Olympic medals, including 4 golds.

Mardi Gras
Val d'Isère Téléphériques celebrates Mardi Gras. For one festive and colorful day, the teams will put away their uniforms and don their finest carnival costumes. During the ski area's opening hours, from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., carnival-goers will distribute treats on the slopes and near the ski lifts.
Super-G Awareness
The Ski Patrol has been forced to cancel the Super-G race that was scheduled for this morning to raise skiers' awareness of speed. The next awareness race, a safe and open event for everyone, will take place next Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on the Borsat slope, weather permitting.
ESF Show
The ESF show initially planned for this evening on the Face de Bellevarde has unfortunately been canceled due to poor weather conditions. The weather forecast does not allow for rescheduling later in the week. The event will therefore be postponed to Tuesday, March 3rd, on the Bellevarde slope instead of the Daille snow front. An activity will be offered in the late afternoon at 5:45 pm on the snow front, replacing the ESF Show.
