Club Med Roundtable

Yesterday morning, the “Alps Summit 2026” was held at a holiday village in Tignes, attended by 150 people including Edgar Grospiron, President of the French Alps 2030 Organizing Committee, the Presidents of the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes Region, Fabrice Pannekoucke, and the Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur Region, Renaud Muselier, as well as several mayors, including Xavier Mattis, local elected officials, and several key players in the tourism industry. During the roundtable discussion, Charlotte Bernin, Managing Director of Commercial Markets Europe/Middle East/Africa at Club Med, Cédric Fechter, Chairman of the Board of Lyon Airport, Sylvain Charlot, Mountain Delegate at Arou France, and Geoffrey Mercier, Managing Director of Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes Tourism, exchanged ideas on the question, "How can we best welcome international clientele in anticipation of the 2030 Olympic and Paralympic Games?" Several ideas were raised, including the importance of building on our legacy, embracing the French image, and distinguishing ourselves internationally. After the roundtable discussion, several political and regional figures spoke about the challenges of the 2030 Olympic Games, including Edgar Grospiron, President of the Organizing Committee for the French Alps 2030 Olympic and Paralympic Games (COJOP).

The option of three alpine skiing venues, including Val d'Isère, Méribel, and Courchevel, is not being considered. The final site map will be approved by the IOC sessions, which will take place around June 25 and 26 in Lausanne, Switzerland, and before the IOC Executive Board. The President of the COJOP also announced the objective of creating Games that serve as catalysts, laboratories, and showcases, with the aim of highlighting the selected venues and allowing athletes to win in iconic locations while offering a true Olympic experience beyond the competitions. Other stakeholders in the 2030 Winter Olympics also spoke, including Fabrice Pannekoucke, Renaud Muselier, the Prefect of Savoie Vanina Nicoli and the President and CEO of Club Med Stéphane Maquaire.
