Construction Projects Meeting

Around sixty people attended the public information meeting last night regarding the construction projects planned for summer 2026. The mayor and his first deputy, in charge of urban planning, presented the various projects scheduled in the village between May and November. The town hall reminded everyone that it is the responsibility of the company in charge of the projects to combat pollution and dust emissions from the work being carried out, as well as to ensure safety. A total of 37 construction projects have been declared to the town hall to date, including two in La Daille and the East Central area, seven in La Plaine de la Daille, Le Crêt, Les Côves, and Le Petit Alaska, five in La Balme, four in Les Richardes, L’Adroit, and Le Laisinant, three in Le Fornet, six in Les Legettaz and Joseray, eight at the Rond-point des Pistes roundabout, and nine in the West Central area. The regulations have been revised and tightened regarding the use of public land, notably with a two-week work stoppage before the start of the winter season. Any company occupying the land after this date will be charged a fee of €200 per square meter per day. Work hours are from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. during the summer, and during the off-season, work will begin at 7:30 a.m. The barriers and tarpaulins will be replaced with more robust, traditional barriers and a sign describing the nature of the work. Several topics were discussed following the meeting, including noise pollution from neighbors, the UCPA construction site, the dates of road closures, the reinstallation of the fountain in the Tourist Office Square, the resurfacing of the Manchet road, the Laisinant landfill, potholes on the roads, the 2030 Olympic Games, the postponement of the Face à Face construction project, the operation of the cyclists' information board, the impact of construction on pedestrian and cycling paths, access to the footbridge between Tignes and Val d'Isère, the Coin area project, and finally, the off-season closure of the Bois de la Laye trail.

Tourism Breakfast

Yesterday morning, the last tourism breakfast for tourism professionals was held. During this meeting, around fifty tourism professionals were introduced to the newly elected representatives of the community on the Val d'Isère Tourism Board of Directors: Patrick Chevallot, Audrey Mattis, Céline Moris, Julien Terrini, Christophe Vial-Pailler, Christophe Vaquier, Léa Saurel, Véronique Pesenti-Gros, and Léo Taillefer. Flavia Lana is the new head of relations with tourism professionals, replacing Chloé Kergourlay. Val d'Isère Tourism's partner, G2A, reviewed the end-of-season period, highlighting the collective effort in marketing and communication, visitor numbers, the advantages of the school holiday calendar, adapted pricing, the "Last Traces" package, and the importance of proactive communication and marketing strategies. Thanks to the "Last Traces" package, 60% of new customers arrive at the end of the season, with over 1,000 packages already sold this year. Val d'Isère's overall occupancy rate is 74.6%, up 2.1 points compared to last year, and the spring break occupancy rate is 46.5%, up 2.4 points. G2A also analyzed the calendar for next season, paying particular attention to Christmas and New Year's, which fall on a Friday. The meeting continued with discussions and questions about the summer season, bicycle rental rates, the organization of a summer sale, summer skiing, the renewal of the Val Pass, the suspension of the Face à Face project, road conditions, and the cleanliness of the waste containers. Patrick Chevallot invited local businesses and professionals to participate in the resort cleanup on April 30th, alongside the relevant municipal services, to assess the environmental impact and foster community spirit.

The event will be held at the Henri Oreiller Convention Center, with a minimum admission fee of two euros.
