FAD Today's Program
Last night, 1,308 people attended the third day of the International Adventure and Discovery Film Festival at the Henri Oreiller Convention Center. For this final day of the festival, two new films in competition will be screened in the early evening at the Henri Oreiller Convention Center and the Le Splendid Cinema. At 5:30 p.m., the public can see the film "Plastic Odyssey: Pacific Mission" with director Pierre De Parscau in attendance. In 2022, the Plastic Odyssey ship departs Marseille for a three-year world tour, targeting the coastlines most polluted by plastic. On board, sailors, engineers, and scientists develop solutions to transform plastic waste into local resources. The second and final film, shown at 7:30 p.m., is "Ride the Line" by Igor Volochii. In 2024, as Ukrainian soldiers have recaptured much of the territory Russia occupied for a few weeks at the start of the conflict, Igor, a Ukrainian filmmaker and cyclist, asks his German friend Sebastian to join him on a charity ride along the front line. Igor and Sebastian will collect testimonies of the violence of this war and, through their friendship and this story, will demonstrate the absurdity of hatred and conflict. At 9:15 pm, the closing ceremony and awards presentation will take place, including the Golden Eagle of Adventure (the grand prize), the Alain Estève Prize (recognizing the technical qualities of a film), the Outside Hope Prize (for first-time filmmakers), the Audience Award, and the Ushuaïa Special Prize (the winning film will be broadcast on the television channel). Following the awards ceremony, at 10:15 pm, the 2026 Golden Eagle winner will be screened.
Off FAD
For this final day of the festival, three events will be offered to the public. At 10:00 AM, a literary breakfast with jury president Jean-Marc Rochette will be held at the Experimental Chalet to present his book, "Le Festin des Pierres" (The Feast of Stones). This book tells the story of the mountains through seven stories, from the Middle Ages to the present day, about those who live there or have lived there, human or otherwise. From 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM, jury member and professional athlete Salomé Cholet will offer an introduction to slacklining, a sport similar to tightrope walking, at the Aquasportif Center.
At 3:00 PM at the Le Splendid cinema, jury member and explorer Matthieu Tordeur will give a talk about his Under Antarctica project, which Val d'Isère supported.
The activities are free and open to all. The literary breakfast and slackline initiation require mandatory reservations through the Tourist Office.
